Frequently Asked
Questions

How long does a 20 lb propane cylinder last?
A 20 lb cylinder holds about 4.7 gallons of propane and typically delivers 18-20 hours of grilling on a mid-size BBQ. Higher-BTU appliances (patio heaters, fryers) burn through it faster.
Can I use any propane cylinder with my grill or heater?
Most residential grills and heaters use a 20 lb cylinder with a standard OPD valve. Larger appliances and forklifts use 33 lb, 40 lb, or 100 lb cylinders - check your appliance manual or call us to confirm.
Do you refill cylinders or only exchange them?
We offer both refill and tank exchange at our Lincoln, NE (625 W. O Street) and Davey, NE (3435 Maple Street) locations - refill typically gives you more propane per dollar than exchange.
What is a propane cylinder used for?
Propane cylinders fuel grills, patio heaters, fire pits, forklifts, temporary heating, RVs, and small commercial equipment. The right size depends on appliance BTU demand and how often the cylinder will be refilled or exchanged.
What propane cylinder sizes do you offer?
Otte Oil & Propane offers propane cylinders in 20 lb, 30 lb, 33 lb, 40 lb, and 100 lb sizes for residential, commercial, and agricultural use across southeast Nebraska.
